In the Soup
In May 1996 Nakao (vocal), who was accompanying himself on the guitar while giving street performances, joined up with Hachiya (guitar), Kusaba (bass) and Yoshida (drums), and the group began performing as In the Soup. The coming together of two totally separate worlds-on the one hand, the hard band sounds of Hachiya, Kusaba and Yoshida, with their devotion to grunge, punk and hard rock, and on the other, the folk of Nakao, whose tremendous career includes a win as a stand-up comedian at an event by Yoshimoto Kogyo-set off a chemical reaction which, in pursuit of the new and unconventional, is now creating a new generation of rock music.
